ABOUT THE ARTIST EXHIBITION:

This body of work celebrates the vibrant intersection of the late 1960s and early 1970s, when movements for civil rights, women's liberation, and gay rights helped reshape what freedom could look like in America. Through color, pattern, and joyful imagery, I honor the courageous individuals who challenged exclusion and imagined a more inclusive future. During this era, many people embraced love, self-expression, and community as powerful acts of resistance and hope. Disco became more than music or fashion—it became a space where people could gather, be seen, and celebrate their authentic selves. The dance floor offered moments of belonging, joy, and liberation for communities that were too often marginalized. Inspired by the optimism, creativity, and determination of this period, these artworks reflect both celebration and progress. They honor those who advocated for greater equality while creating cultures rooted in connection and acceptance. I invite viewers to reflect on the power of community, the courage to be oneself, and the enduring belief that love can help move society forward. - Danica Factor
